Getting a website built: costs for SMEs in Zurich

Price

from CHF 1,000

BOOK A FIRST CALL

How far the price goes above CHF 1,000 depends on the scope. Before the first call, make a rough count of how many different page types, features and languages you need.

If you sell to other businesses, plan pages for case studies and your team. A second language such as English can also come later, which keeps the launch cost lower.

What sets the price

Different page types
Every new page layout needs its own design. Pages with the same layout add hardly any cost.
Booking and integrations
Every feature needs planning, development and testing on all devices.
A second or third language
Translated pages need their own menus, testing and, later, ongoing upkeep.
Content that is still missing
If text or images are missing, the launch gets pushed back and the work grows.

Agency, freelancer or website builder

If all you need is your services, address and phone number, a website builder is enough. Once languages, an online store or integrations come in, an agency is more likely to pay off.

From first call to launch, all over video call

We meet over video call, and your drafts are waiting for you online. How fast it goes depends mostly on your text and your feedback.

  1. Before the project starts

    First call and quote

On a video call, we clarify your goal, scope and languages. Then you receive your personal quote.

Your part: Your goal, your audience, websites you like

  2. Project start

    Structure and wireframes

We plan the pages and sketch out which content goes where.

Your part: Review the page list, pick the case studies to feature

  3. First half of the project

    Design in feedback rounds

The design takes shape in rounds. You leave your comments right on the draft.

Your part: Feedback collected by one point of contact

  4. Second half of the project

    Development and testing

We code every page and test it on phone, tablet and desktop.

Your part: Final text and images, access to the domain

  5. End of the project

    Launch and training

Once you approve, we take the site live and show your team how to change the content.

Your part: Give your approval, schedule the training

What you provide for the project

  • Your goal and main customer group

Whether businesses or consumers buy from you shapes the structure.

  • Two or three case studies

Approved by the clients, ideally with results in numbers.

  • A decision on languages

German only or English too, settled before design starts.

  • A list of external services

Newsletter, maps, booking tools. You need this for the privacy policy.

  • Logo as a vector file and your own photos

Real photos of your team are more credible than stock photos.

What our web designers and developers deliver

  1. A design concept before you hire us

Before you decide, we design a draft of your website. It costs you nothing.

  2. Custom design for every screen

Site structure, wireframes and design for phone and desktop, with no off-the-shelf template.

  3. Development with an SEO foundation

When we code, we keep load times short and lay a clean SEO foundation. A senior team leads every project.

  4. Training, then support if you want it

We train your team to manage the content. We also handle updates and new pages on request.

After the project: handover and running costs

After the training at the end of the project, your team edits text, images and pages on its own. That includes sections we coded specifically for you. If you want, we keep helping with bugs, updates or new pages.

Keep the logins for your domain and hosting inside your company, not just with us.

Handover at a glance

  • Update text and images without an agency
  • Add new pages, no IT skills needed
  • One training session for everyone who manages content
  • Help with bugs and updates, if you want it

What Zurich SMEs should know before buying a website

Three points that matter when you buy a website in Zurich, backed by cantonal and federal sources.

Many very small firms, and a lot of B2B sales

The canton of Zurich has about 112,500 companies. Of these, 88 percent have fewer than ten employees. Zurich companies earn almost two thirds of their revenue from sales to other businesses (Canton of Zurich economic monitoring, June 2026). If you sell to businesses, your website needs case studies, a clear overview of your services and a contact person with a photo. Plan these pages in from the start.

Service firms show expertise, not products

In the canton of Zurich, 87 percent of businesses are in the service sector. Management and IT services, along with financial services, are among the industries with the most employees (Canton of Zurich, 2024 figures). Firms like these have no product to photograph. Case studies, team pages and answers to typical customer questions carry the website. You supply the content for these, so plan time for it early.

Data protection when your agency works abroad

According to the FDPIC, the Swiss data protection commissioner, you remain responsible for personal data that an agency or web host processes for you, for example from your contact form, and you must cover this in a contract. If your agency works abroad, check the Federal Council’s list of countries with adequate data protection. If the country is on it, personal data from Switzerland may in principle be transferred there freely (FDPIC). This is not legal advice.

Questions from Zurich SMEs about a new website

More questions?

Write to us or book a short first call.

LET'S TALK

What website costs should I expect in Zurich?

You pay once for design and development, starting at CHF 1,000 with Rekos. The exact amount is in the personal quote you get after the first call. Domain and hosting are ongoing costs, and support only if you want it. The design concept costs you nothing.

Is a single homepage enough, or do I need a whole website?

For a hair salon or a small practice, one page with your services, prices and contact details can be enough. If you sell to businesses, subpages for case studies and your team are worth it. Even a single page gets its own custom design with us, from CHF 1,000.

How long until my website is finished?

A complete website takes us 4 to 6 weeks. The most time gets lost when text is missing or approvals stall. So choose one person to collect feedback and make decisions.

What exactly is the free design concept?

A first draft of your website, designed before you hire us. You judge our actual work, not just a promise, and you can compare other agencies’ quotes with a real draft in hand.

What should I prepare before the first call?

A goal for the website, a rough list of pages and two or three websites you like. We only need text, photos and your logo later. Ideally, the person who has the final say on the website joins the call.

Do I own the website after launch?

You have full control over text, images and pages and can change them without us. It’s best to register the domain and hosting in your company’s name. Before the project starts, put in writing how the rights to design and code are handled.

Can a web agency from abroad build my Zurich website?

Yes. Rekos works with no address in Switzerland and no in-person meetings. We share drafts over email and in shared design files, and meetings and training happen over video call. That is how we created the website and logo for the author of “Journal to mySelf” from Wil, St. Gallen.
